How a roll-off works
The truck backs in and sets the container on the spot you agreed. You load it over the open top, spreading the weight evenly front to back and side to side and keeping everything below the top edge. When you are done, call or message us, and the truck comes back, loads it and hauls it away. On the road, Michigan law requires every vehicle to be built or loaded so its contents cannot drop, sift, leak, blow off or otherwise escape, and a load that is not completely enclosed has to be covered or fastened down (MCL 257.720).
Space is the thing to check before you book: about 60 feet of clear space for truck access, about 25 feet of clearance overhead, free of wires and branches, and a flat, hard surface such as a driveway, gravel or pavement. Move vehicles and obstacles beforehand, and if you will not be home, mark the spot. If a street placement is needed, ask us first. In the City of Holland a refuse collector licence applies, and the City Council approves applicants; we check the City's rules before booking. We found no rule on dumpster placement in the City code we could read, so for any spot in a street we check the City's rules and the placement with you before booking.

Roll-off rental in West Michigan: where the loads go
We work with approved local disposal and recycling facilities whenever possible, and materials such as metal, concrete and certain yard waste may be separated for recycling. The rules set the rest. Michigan law says solid waste may go only to a licensed disposal area (MCL 324.11512(2)). Michigan law bans certain things from landfills (MCL 324.11514): more than a de minimis amount of yard waste, whole tires, used oil, lead-acid batteries, regulated hazardous waste, bulk liquids, medical waste (with exceptions) and asbestos waste, unless the landfill meets the federal asbestos rule. EGLE says waste taken out of the county where it was generated must be allowed under both counties' solid waste plans. EGLE does not license ordinary solid waste haulers, but some towns do, as set out on each town page.
